The question to ask yourself is ‘what is in my heart?’
Proverbs 23:7 – ‘As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.’
Do you look at others and judge their appearance or choices?
Knowing best how they should live their lives based on how you perceive the world?
Or do you recognize that each person experiences and lives out their own unique journey?
Do you look for opportunities to be offended or annoyed?
Or are you flexible and open to other ways?
Do you spend your time discussing other people, criticizing and gossiping?
Or do you focus your attention on what energy you bring in to a room or situation?
Do you condemn yourself internally? Call yourself names, belittle yourself in your own mind and heart?
Or do you speak to yourself with gentleness, understanding, encouragement and love?
Do you look for a problem when none exists, the ‘what if’ scenario?
Or are you open and allowing to the discovery of possibilities and solutions?
What seeds are you planting and tending to in your heart and mind? Because the seed of a life sustaining fruit will grow just as easily as a poisonous weed. Galatians 6:7 – ‘Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.’
Not sure what seeds you’re planting and minding? Stop and observe the thoughts within the confines of your mind, the feeling(s) within your heart, the story you rehearse or the dreams of your future. You will know if they are the poisonous weeds of condemnation, insecurity, blame, envy, self righteous, victim, deceit, vengeance, judgment, hatred, annoyance, impatience and the like. Or will you discover the nourishing thoughts and a heart filled with love, curiosity, creativity, empathy, peace, generosity, inspiration, benevolence, compassion, understanding and solutions.
If you cannot change your own heart and mind how can you expect others to?
Change has to arise from within, the garden you tend to flourishes. Plant thoughts of love that promote strength and sustenance to all of life. Pull the thoughts of hatred that deplete your life giving force.
